Letter Press Workshop with artist, Catherine Hammerton

This is a 2-hour workshop exploring letterpress and the art of language with guidance from artist Catherine Hammerton. Inspired by the Dadaist tradition of cut-and-collage, you’ll work in pairs to set type by hand and print small cards to be tucked into library books as pay-it-forward discoveries for strangers. Tactile, collaborative and carefully made. There are 8 workshop places available. Booking is essential!

About Catherine Hammerton

Catherine Hammerton is a dreamer, maker and educator working in paper and letterpress. Her practice explores our relationships to each other and to place, with ideas rooted in the Welsh landscape, the notion of Hiraeth, a sense of collective belonging, and the quiet power of small, heartfelt gestures.

She makes things with her heart and her hands, combining found objects and flea market finds with hand-set type to create work that is intimate, tactile and deeply human. Catherine is based in Model House in Llantrisant.
