TREVOR JAMES - AN EXHIBITION OF TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY
I’m Trevor James, ex-teacher, ex-rugby referee, high handicap golfer and a passionate photographer. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie 127, bought from Gibbon’s shop in Penygraig, which produced small negatives and my latest is a digital camera with a resolution of nearly 50 million pixels. At different stages in my teaching career I have taught photography as a subsidiary subject. After retiring I studied at Cardiff Metropolitan University and graduated with an Honours Degree in Photographic Practice in June 2014. I am an Associate of both the Royal Photographic Society and the Welsh Photographic Federation.
This year I was invited to display my exhibition “Mountains, Lakes and Icebergs” at the Cynon Valley Museum and then at Art in the Attic, Pop Factory, Porth. Some of the images from this exhibition will be on show at Rhondda Coach Travel, High St. Other places where my images have been displayed include Rhondda Heritage Park, The Workers’ Gallery Ynyshir, St. David’s Hall Cardiff, The Pierhead Cardiff Bay and Coppertone Gallery Swansea.
On show is a selection from many images produced on photographic journeys. They include photographs of the soaring granite mountains of the Yosemite Valley of California; the Canadian Rockies with their jagged, ice-capped peaks and alpine lakes; one of the world's most beautiful natural attractions, the iceberg-choked Disko Bay, Greenland; the ancient cities and sweeping deserts of Morocco.
